Hello! I am Minhae Kim from South Korea, studying the MSc Management of Information Systems and Digital Innovation at the University of Leeds.
I graduated from Daeil Foreign Language High School and completed my bachelor’s degree at Ajou University in Korea. When exploring postgraduate study in the UK, Leeds stood out for its reputation and the strength of its curriculum. I received offers from five universities and chose Leeds because the modules aligned most closely with my academic interests and career goals.
My experience so far has met, and indeed exceeded, expectations. The welcome activities, including several webinars, campus tours, and induction events, facilitated a smooth transition to university life. Living at St Mark’s Residences has also provided a supportive environment through well-organised social activities.
Academically, the programme is rigorous and well supported. Academic staff are highly accessible, and office hours and timely feedback have been invaluable. Each week features curated reading materials that combine foundational theory with current research, alongside practical case studies drawn from industry so that concepts can be applied immediately. Through seminars and small-group discussions, I have frequent opportunities to test theory against real scenarios, present short analyses, and refine my arguments.
The calibre and diversity of my peers also enrich learning, as classroom debates expose me to different professional viewpoints and problem-solving approaches.
A particular strength of Leeds is its community. With more than 300 student societies, there are opportunities to explore new interests and continue existing ones. I am involved in Horse Riding, K-Pop Dance, and Korean Society, and I have enjoyed trying activities through Give It a Go.
The cultural and professional diversity of my cohort continually broadens my perspective.
Outside my studies, I regularly use The Edge for yoga and gym sessions, and many facilities are included for students in university accommodation. Leeds itself feels like a vibrant student city, lively, welcoming, and well connected. The campus’s proximity to the city centre makes it convenient to visit shops, cafes, cultural venues, and pubs with classmates.
I continue to explore careers events, skills workshops, and society projects, and I am already seeing how Leeds supports both academic development and personal growth. I am approachable and happy to share my experience, so you are very welcome to contact me.
