Hi, my name is Atyaf, and I am a second-year PhD student at the University of Leeds. Before joining Leeds, I completed my MSc in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Aberdeen. The University of Leeds first caught my attention as one of the top universities in the UK. Its academic reputation and research-intensive environment were key factors in my decision to choose this university. Also, I received positive feedback and recommendations from individuals who had studied at Leeds, which supported my choice.

Since starting at the university, my experience has been nothing short of fantastic. The support services provided, including academic guidance, counselling, and career support, have been instrumental in my academic and personal success. The campus offers a vibrant and engaging student life, with numerous societies, and extracurricular activities that allow me to pursue my interests and connect with new people.

What sets Leeds apart for me is its cultural diversity and the abundance of opportunities it offers. The state-of-the-art facilities, libraries, and laboratories have greatly enhanced my learning experience. The university's commitment to comprehensive student support services, from academic assistance to career guidance, creates an inclusive and supportive environment.

While I am a new student, I have already seen numerous opportunities sent via email for internships, careers, and volunteering. Although I haven't taken part in any yet, the university has been incredibly helpful in my academic journey, particularly in my academic writing as a PhD student. I am excited about my first experience with Link to Leeds and look forward to exploring more in the future.

In terms of my course, what I value most is the support and guidance provided by my supervisors. Their expertise and availability for questions have been invaluable throughout the challenges of a PhD. Additionally, my fellow PhD students, coming from diverse cultures, have made my experience even more enriching.

During my spare time, I indulge in my passion for learning new languages, and Leeds has provided me with the opportunity to join Spanish classes. Given my focus on AI (Artificial Intelligence) in the medical field, I also enjoy expanding my knowledge in medicine and the brain. I love watching movies and reading detective novels.

Leeds as a city offers a vibrant and diverse atmosphere. I also enjoy spending time at Leeds Dock. I currently live in a private accommodation and the quietness, spaciousness, and convenient location make it an ideal place for me.
