Coming from Bangalore, I embarked on my journey to the University of Leeds eager to expand my knowledge, challenge myself, and be part of a global academic community. My interest in Leeds first sparked at a university fair, where I learned about its welcoming atmosphere, strong academic offerings, and dedication to student support. As I delved deeper, I discovered more reasons why Leeds was the ideal fit for me. Its renowned reputation for innovative teaching, strong industry partnerships, and rich international network truly stood out. These factors made me confident that Leeds would be the best place to launch my career in International Business.
The university’s diverse and inclusive environment provides countless opportunities to grow academically and personally.
Since arriving, my experience has been everything I hoped for—and even more. The university’s diverse and inclusive environment provides countless opportunities to grow academically and personally. I quickly felt part of a warm and vibrant community, and one of the things I value most about Leeds is the unwavering support from faculty and peers alike. It’s a place that genuinely cares about students’ well-being and success. This sense of belonging has made a tremendous difference in helping me navigate challenges, embrace new experiences, and continuously set higher goals for myself.
The opportunities available at Leeds have been transformative. The university offers an exceptional range of discovery modules, which allow students to broaden their knowledge and explore new areas of interest. I’ve taken full advantage of these, enrolling in courses outside of my main studies to deepen my understanding of various subjects. One standout experience was joining the International Welcome Team, where I’ve had the opportunity to support new international students as they adjust to life at Leeds. Being able to give back and assist others, just as I was supported when I first arrived, has been incredibly fulfilling and helped me develop strong interpersonal skills.
My course in International Business has also been a perfect fit. I appreciate the balance between theoretical learning and practical application, which keeps the coursework engaging and relevant. Instructors frequently integrate current industry examples into lessons, making the material not only insightful but also directly applicable to real-world situations. The elective modules are another fantastic aspect of my program, as they allow me to tailor my studies and focus on areas that align with my career aspirations. This flexibility has been invaluable in helping me shape my academic journey according to my goals.
Leeds strikes an ideal balance between vibrant city life and peaceful, green spaces, making it perfect for students seeking a well-rounded experience.
Exploring Leeds as a city has been another highlight. Leeds strikes an ideal balance between vibrant city life and peaceful, green spaces, making it perfect for students seeking a well-rounded experience. In my free time, I love visiting local parks and cultural spots. Some of my favorite places include Hyde Park, where I can relax or meet up with friends, and the Corn Exchange, a beautiful, historic building filled with unique shops and eateries that inspire me every time I visit. Whether it’s grabbing a coffee in the city center, exploring the bustling Kirkgate Market, or taking a leisurely walk along Leeds Dock, there’s always something new to see and experience. The city’s friendly atmosphere and strong student culture truly make it feel like a home away from home.
In terms of accommodation, I live in a rented house conveniently located near campus. Living here has been a wonderful experience, offering comfort and a welcoming community of fellow students. Sharing the space with other students has not only been enjoyable but has also helped me build strong connections. We often study together, cook meals, and take time to explore the city, creating memories that I know will last beyond my time at university.
Overall, studying at the University of Leeds has been an experience that has shaped me in ways I never imagined. It’s a place where I’ve grown! Feel free to get in touch with me via Unibuddy or email me at ansh-link@leeds.ac.uk if you have any questions.
