Hello!

My name is Andhara but I prefer to be called Dhara. I’m currently holding a status as an Undergraduate student at Universitas Indonesia while also pursuing MSc Dental Public Health at University of Leeds. I am one of ten students from UI who were given the opportunity to continue our double degree program at Leeds.

I have been eyeing for University of Leeds for its stellar reputation and diverse course offerings.

Among the three university options, my preference was generally oriented for the Master’s degree and the United Kingdom. Soon after, the program solidified my decision to choose University of Leeds.

The sixth level of the Worsley Building is where my postgraduate journey began. In the realm of Dentistry, I am fortunate to have an opportunity of immersing myself in a new study environment whilst exploring advanced technology, such as a haptic simulator. Having this chance allows me to discover and reflect on how digital dentistry shapes the future of our professional role as dentists. Honing my skills in Dentistry signifies being able to work with or without a clinical ‘hat’.

Coming into Leeds was not a smooth sailing. From waiting for a Letter of Acceptance to visa approval, counting down to the exact departure day, settling in independently, and finally enjoying my abroad life led to an incredible tale of my 20s. The city of Leeds is wholesome. Indonesians stated that Leeds is pretty comparable to Yogyakarta, where the educational spot is spread over the small city area. The University of Leeds is also home to unique buildings. With four libraries surrounding campus, including the incredibly picturesque Brotherton Library and modernized Laidlaw Library, they are the ultimate go-to destinations. Not to mention how friendly my accommodation is for walking; I can get to Worsley Building, where I spend the majority of my study hours, in about fifteen minutes.

One benefit of living in Leeds is that you’ll never run out of weekend getaway options.

Leeds City Station will be your closest buddy if you enjoy travelling! A 2.5-hours train ride will take you to the picturesque of Lake District. In fact, you can also look through the Leeds University Union website to see what day trips are available and register! Anyway, I am on a mission to find UK’s best hot chocolate! Two on my master list are Hotel Chocolat and CUP + LID, both located in Leeds City Centre.
