Tour De Yorkshire is a touring bicycle race that happens in 4 stages for the men’s category and 2 stages for women’s category. The men’s race ended outside the Leeds Art Gallery at Leeds city centre after four gruelling days of riding in the beautiful countryside and towns of Yorkshire on the 5th of May 2019. Teams and cyclists from around the world fought for the coveted title and the title was won by British cyclist Christopher Lawless from Team Ineos. Mariana Vos won the women’s race in Scarborough on the 4th of May 2019.

Thousands of people had been waiting to cheer the cyclists for many hours, from toddlers to the elderly, everybody had smiles on their faces, clapping rhythmically on the barricades while watching the cyclists on the big screens as they arrived at the finish line. The atmosphere was energetic and very positive. Despite the massive crowd, everybody was happy, and everything went smoothly. Many support personnel and police were walking about the place making sure things were alright and everybody was comfortable to cheer the finishing cyclists.

The atmosphere in Leeds usually is positive and fun, but today, it was electric. Nothing like anyone has seen before. Leeds being chosen as the finishing point of the race is a matter of pride for everybody who lives here and is proof for the fact that Leeds is one of the fastest developing cities in the UK and gathering attention from all parts of the world.
