Hi, I’m Vedanti Khanna, currently pursuing my Master’s in International Marketing Management at the University of Leeds. Before coming here, I completed my Bachelor’s in English (Honors) from Hansraj College, University of Delhi. I first heard about the University of Leeds at an admissions fair. After learning more about the International Marketing program, I knew that Leeds was where I wanted to be—it offered a perfect blend of practical and research-based theoretical learning, in addition to being part of the prestigious Russell Group. When I applied it ranked 75th in the whole world and 24th in my course globally!
One of the main reasons I chose the University of Leeds was its academic excellence and high rankings, as well as the diversity and international exposure it provides.
With students from all over the world, the campus is vibrant and multicultural, which has greatly enriched my learning experience.
My time here has been amazing so far. Academically, the seminars and lectures are highly interactive, and we’re given plenty of opportunities to deepen our knowledge through engaging discussions and practical applications. Outside the classroom, Leeds has allowed me to explore various career options, engage in different activities, and connect with people from diverse backgrounds. The “Give it a Go” sessions offered by various clubs and societies have been an incredible way to try new things and meet new people. For instance, I joined the Business School Society and the Women in Leadership Society, and even tried a bachata class with the Salsa Society!
One of my favourite parts of the university is the Leeds University Union. The events and activities organized here truly foster a sense of community and help you feel connected to campus life. A standout event for me is the Global Café, which acts as a great icebreaker and lets students from all over the world meet and interact. With over 300 clubs and societies, there really is something for everyone. This diverse range of options has enabled me to pursue my interests in business and leadership while also trying out new hobbies.
The University provides excellent career support too. From Joblink to the Career Centre, the guidance and resources available for career advancement are incredible. My course is also very practical in nature, with modules that focus not only on theoretical understanding but also on real-world applications, which I find very beneficial. The seminars, in particular, offer insights into industry perspectives, allowing us to apply what we’ve learned in real-world scenarios and develop a valuable skill set.
Living so far from home—about 7,000 miles away—can be challenging, but the warmth of the people here and the many opportunities to engage and connect have made my transition smooth and enjoyable. Leeds as a city is not only beautiful but also dynamic, offering something for everyone.
Whether you’re into trying new cuisines, attending comedy and jazz gigs, exploring history at museums, or simply unwinding by the canal, there’s always something to do.
Personally, I love spending time by the dockside; it’s peaceful, especially after a long day, and my favourite spot to relax. For dining out, Akbar’s is a go-to place where I can enjoy some familiar Indian dishes.
Outside of my studies, I enjoy writing, creating content, and going on weekend day trips to explore the beautiful surroundings of Leeds. Its central location makes it easy to travel to charming spots nearby—Knaresborough has been a favourite destination of mine so far.
Currently, I live at The Tannery, a private accommodation. Leeds offers a variety of student housing options, from university accommodations to private housing, so there’s something for everyone’s preference and budget.
If you’re considering Leeds and have any questions about life here, feel free to reach out to me through email or UniBuddy—I’d be happy to help!
