Ahmed Zekry

My name is Ahmed, and I am currently a third-year undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering at the University of Leeds. Prior to my studies at Leeds, I attended a French school, where I was introduced to various academic disciplines.

The university's investment in robotics and its commendable academic ranking have greatly motivated me to pursue my education here.

My experience at the University of Leeds has been both exciting and enriching, providing me with numerous opportunities for academic and professional growth, as well as participation in various sports clubs. I particularly appreciate the wide array of experiences the university offers, enabling graduates to leave not only with a degree but also with valuable practical experience. The availability of diverse clubs and societies catering to individual interests, coupled with state-of-the-art facilities for laboratories and study spaces, enhances the overall educational environment.

One notable opportunity I have encountered is the EPS summer internship program, which allows students to collaborate closely with researchers and peers on innovative projects—an experience that significantly enriches learning.

The practical aspect of my course stands out, as it emphasizes hands-on experience through various group and individual projects and coursework. This approach has allowed me to gain a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.

Outside of my studies, I enjoy rowing with the University of Leeds Boat Club, which offers both competitive and recreational activities in a beautiful outdoor setting. Leeds, as a city, has much to offer; it is compact and easy to navigate, with facilities conveniently located nearby. I find Leeds to be an exceptional student city, as its vibrant atmosphere fosters a sense of belonging among students. My favorite place in Leeds is the University of Leeds campus, where I often stroll, appreciating the impressive architecture and the natural surroundings. Currently, I reside in a privately rented apartment, which provides me with the benefits of personal space and autonomy.
